Enjoy your retirement with a fantastic new hobby. Crafts of all kinds are making a comeback and for very good reasons. There is nothing better than a creative activity to give you enjoyment and a sense of achievement.
A creative hobby is a great addition to your retirement activities. Making something with your hands gives many additional benefits as we approach older age. Handmade crafts help to keep the brain active and maintain dexterity in your fingers.
Of course, there’s much more to a new hobby than that and attending a class has many additional benefits. You will be able to meet new friends, have a regular outing to attend and make something beautiful.
At Silverpetal we have lots of opportunities for you to take up a new craft during your retirement. There are lots of course options to fit in around you in your retirement schedule. We offer one day courses, weekend taster workshops and weekly daytime and evening classes. We also have short beginner’s mini courses. Your retirement could be about exploring a number of new directions to try out new things. We have a number of different subjects to try. These include mosaic making. Colouring, polymer clay and jewellery making. Click on a subject to be directed to our course pages to learn more.
Silver Jewellery Making is our main subject area and we have a number of related subject areas to explore. Many of our one day workshops are open to beginners. These include exciting subjects like Acid Etching, Chasing and Repousse, Precious Metal Clay, and Polymer Clay. We also offer a beginner’s mini course which can be followed by our weekly term time sessions. If you just want to have a go at jewellery making or live too far away for a weekly class our Jewellery Taster may be the option for you.
Many of our subjects are easily done at home. Many of our students have come to us when we they have first started their retirement and now enjoy the support from being able to attend classes and indulge in their hobbies at home. We have an extensive shop with plenty of tools and materials – so you don’t have to buy online. You can actually see and handle our tools so you know exactly what you are buying. Help and advice on what to buy to carry on at home is always available.
