Wire Twisting and weaving
Working with wire is a great way to create unusual and expressive jewellery designs. This specialist workshop will explore the unique versatility of wire and the different ways that it can be twisted or woven in to decorative lengths. The possibilities are endless with this simple, yet easily accessible medium.
What will we do during the wire twisting and weaving workshop?
A number of different techniques will be covered during this full day workshop. You will start by making some very simple wire twist samples. You will also experiment by combining different twists together to see how different effects can be achieved. Then you will advance through to a more complex way of weaving wire in to a decorative band. Towards the end of the day, when we have completed several twists and weaving techniques – these samples will be made in to a bangle.
There will also be examples to look. This will show you how these different ways of working wire can be used to make other interesting pieces of jewellery.
This is a technique that can be adapted to be very complex or very simple.
Wire twisted components can be used as an accent on a piece of jewellery or it can actually be the main focus of a piece.
