Come along to one of our fold forming classes at Silverpetal Studio.
What is Fold Forming?
Fold forming is a revolutionary way of metalworking which explores the elasticity of metals to create unique three dimensional forms. This full day will look at a very brief history of the subject, the tools and studio equipment needed to be able to carry out the subject, and the folds themselves.
What will we do on the day?
During the class we will learn how to make several different folds. Starting from a simple fold and forged fold, we will advance through to more complex folds. Including; wedge, cross, boat, pinched and alternate folds. We will make a series of samples which can be made in to jewellery during your weekly class or at home after the course. This class will provide a wealth of knowledge and take the mystery out of fold forming. Making this a subject that is both accessible and enjoyable.
This is a fantastic technique to learn. It will promote a more creative way of designing to give very unusual results. Fold forming will add a new dimension to your jewellery designs.
What do I need to bring?
This day class is from 10am until 3pm. Materials are extra, available to buy and payable on the day. You are welcome to bring your own metals to work with and advice regarding what to bring can be provided beforehand on request. Lunch break can be taken at the Hub Cafe by the canal, a picnic area is also located by the canal if you prefer to bring a pack-up. Locally we have a Morrisons supermarket where there is a cafe, cash point, etc. The studio is closed and locked over the lunch break and it is fine to leave any belongings if you wish.
As with all Silverpetal Specialist Classes we will have tea and cakes in the afternoon.
