A brilliant weekend! Ange has carefully thought through some really well designed projects that are both enjoyable and teach you the core skills. I couldn’t believe that by mid morning on the first day we were both soldering and a real piece of jewellery was taking shape! I was delighted with the pieces that I made and would thoroughly recommend this to anyone who is interested in making jewellery.

“I can thoroughly recommend the Silverpetal Beginner’s Course. We came away having enjoyed the weekend, feeling happy with (& surprised by) the pieces we’d made & our new skills. Angela’s friendly, approachable & gives clear instructions. The workshop is neat & well equipped, with everything set out to gradually build on & practice our new found skills through a series of Workbooks with loads of cool projects to work on. I’ve now joined the weekly classes where everyone seems really friendly & helpful & I can’t wait to do the Specialist Classes. This is definitely the best way to learn jewellery making in a supportive & enjoyable environment. I’m really pleased I took the plunge.”

My first taste of Silver Petal was on the weekend beginners course. It was absolutely brilliant. The right pace to start off making jewellery, initially from copper and then silver but steady enough that you could follow what was happening. Ange is a fantastic teacher, she offers guidance and support whilst allowing you to learn skills and techniques so that you feel an enormous sense of achievement. I signed up straight away for the evening classes and haven’t looked back, in fact I am in the early stages of selling my creations and have completed another day course in stone setting. Whether you’re looking for a hobby or want to take it further I cannot recommend Silver Petal enough.

  4. Emma Carson

I attended the beginner’s jewellery making class this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a good pace and packed lots of information into the two days. I can highly recommend the course and am now looking forward to using the skills I learnt in studio time in the evenings.

  5. Moira Bannister, Chesterfield

Really well thought out course taking us through all the processes and basic skills needed. Very supportive environment and tutor had loads of patience. I intend to sign up to class to ensure what has been learnt is built upon. Thoroughly enjoyed the weekend course.

  6. Carolyn Hudson

It was great trying different techniques and is a good introduction to jewellery making. I will definitely carry on and try to join an evening group.

  7. Frances Lilly, Barlborough, Chesterfield

Enjoyed learning about traditional silversmithing. Loved making all the pieces – the content of the day is great, soldering aspect really useful for me as is the jump ring making.

  8. Lindsay Bennet, Mickleover. Derby

I love it. The group was fab, each day was a good pace and it was nice that we all had time to get everything done even if behind. It was great to use so many techniques and pieces of equipment on a beginner’s course. I will definitely be trying to attend class and more specialist courses.

  9. Laura Jessop

Fantastic weekend workshop. Loved making the ring and bead in particular. Great value with lots to do and great beginner projects.

  10. Rachel Dickens

Super weekend! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed learning about a wide range of skills and am very proud of my finished jewellery. I’d heartily recommend Silverpetal courses to anyone.

  11. Lindsay Rumsey

The timing of the 2 days was excellent. I enjoyed everything and was pleased with the results of my work. I think this was due to the small class size and the good relationship between demonstration and working.

  12. Lorraine Sanderson. Eckington

Just attended the two day silver jewellery making weekend. Absolutely fantastic!!! Ang made the group feel very welcome and we each had lots of individual attention. She was approachable and even when asked a question which she must have heard a million times, never made us feel silly. Already know which two other courses I want to attend and trying to find a way to attend the five week evening course as this has definitely made me want to learn more of the traditional silversmithing methods. Thank you again Ang for a fantastic weekend.
