At Silverpetal Studio our Beginner’s Weekend Jewellery taster is 2 days long. This is a group booking for a small class limited to 6 students maximum per course. It is the ideal activity weekend for Hen Parties, Special Birthdays, Women’s Groups, Retired Groups and Team Building Weekends. Whatever the occasion, this activity weekend is a great opportunity for a fantastic and unusual, creative experience.
This ‘taster’ course is designed to offer a brief introduction to silver jewellery making for complete beginners. It is held at weekends, Saturday & Sunday 10am – 3.00pm. Each student receives individual help and attention throughout each day. Each person will be able to complete their own wonderful pieces of handmade jewellery without any prior knowledge or experience.
On the first day you will be given a simple introduction to soldering. You will also learn how to size and make a ring. Then, during the Sunday workshop you will learn how to construct simple designs. Your designs will then be used either for a pendant or bracelet.
Each attendee will be able to make a ring and either a pendant or bracelet to take with them at the end of the weekend. It will be an opportunity to just have a go at jewellery making at a simple level in a supportive environment.
The price above is inclusive for any number of candidates up to a maximum of 6 which is only £130 per person for the two days. All materials, including silver to make prototypes and the projects is included in the price. Tea and coffee are included and available at the studio throughout the day. There is ample free parking at the studio. We will finish the Sunday with afternoon tea & cakes.
We have an hour lunch break. A cafe and picnic area are next to the studio where lunch may be purchased or a pack-up may be eaten – weather permitting. There is a cafe at the local Morrisons supermarket a short drive away. The studio is closed and locked at lunch-time.
After the Beginner’s Weekend Jewellery Taster:
After completing this 2 day course you will be able to enrol individually to attend our 5 week Beginner’s Silver Jewellery Course if you live locally. This offers a more instructive and in-depth look at the subject. (If you are looking for a complete beginner’s introduction it is advisable to book this in preference; This Taster Weekend class does not qualify you to attend the mixed ability term time classes or the intermediate specialist classes.) We also offer other one day workshops aimed at complete beginners. Subscribe to our mailing list for regular updates about our classes and courses.
There is an extensive tool shop at the Studio selling beginner’s kits. We have beginner’s tool kits and soldering kits, so setting up and continuing after the course is possible. These are available to buy at the end of the two days. Help and advice on what to buy is always available if needed. You are welcome to pop in whenever there is a class running.
