Stone setting is one of the most enjoyable aspects of jewellery making. With hundreds of different stones available it will always give a special dimension to your work. Our Beginner’s Stone Setting day will give you a great start with this fantastic subject.
What will we do on this workshop?
This one day Beginner’s Stone Setting workshop will show you the easiest way to set stones and will give you the basic knowledge needed to be able to progress with the subject at home, or in class after the day. We will make two pieces during this workshop to take home at the end of the day. Students can choose to work in silver or copper and will learn how to set both round and oval cabochon type stones.
Who can attend the Beginner’s Stone Setting?
This workshop is open to students who have never tried stone setting before or who need a refresher in the subject. Basic jewellery making skills are required. Individuals should have completed our 5 week Beginner’s Silver Jewellery Class. Students from other colleges or centres are welcome, but should be competent at basic soldering and basic workshop skills.
The use of all the tools and equipment needed for the subject is included in the fee. Advice regarding specialised equipment needed for working at home will also be available. Materials are extra and payable on the day. Silver or copper can be worked. A selection of stones of the appropriate size will be available to choose from at the studio.

This workshop is open to post beginners and intermediate to advanced students – it is your responsibility to ensure you are booked on to the correct class for your level.
